We are on ‘easy-mode’ today as hollywood movie posters are not exactly puzzles wrapped in mystery shrouded in illusion – when it comes to illustrating the faint glow and hum of the patriarchal superstructure of the society we inhabit.
Well here we have the standard Avengers movie poster. Everyone in their heroic pose, but something is a little different for Black Widow. It seems, somehow (*gasp*) that some of her superpowers must come from displaying a well defined tuckus to the gaze of the viewer.
Is anyone else showing off their super-tuckus? Evidently not.
Through the magic of the internet, let us witness a great equalization, and redraw our poster.
And there we have it. Butt-power for all. Now tell me again about how equal society is and how we need to move past these tired and dusty feminists concepts like patriarchy and sexism…

sigh. . just had this kind of conversation with eldest daughter yesterday. One of our grandchildren (just started school) got invited to a birthday party. I don’t know the name of the characters, but the invitation had a picture of three very sexualized figures on them – we’re talking FIVE year olds here – with narrow waists, lots of makeup, long hair. . . and we got into a discussion of children’s toys. Apparently even My Little Ponies are sexualized now. . but NO, the patriarchy doesn’t exist and girls aren’t targeted any more than boys. :(

Oh, Arb, have you not learned anything. Patriarchy isn’t a thing. It just isn’t.

Thank goodness she has you to help prepare her defences for the onslaught of patriarchal bs she will be assaulted with.
What is quite extra galling is when the dudes go all hyper-vulcan ‘logical’ while trying to explain away patriarchy – they don’t get that it is punch in the ovaries every morning – waking up and and having it reconfirmed once again that because you’re female, you get to be treated as less than fully human in society.
Watching another girl being thrust in the crucible must be quite horrible – quite a a rage inducing experience. Because it isn’t nice and it isn’t fair. :(
Amen to that.

I pride myself in not learning any of the ‘lessons’ being demonstrated over at GC’s. I have a big bottle of brain bleach on hand just for excursions into the manosphere.
Some people are truly unreachable. GC defended some truly odious ideas on that thread – I’m not sure he even realizes it yet.
There was a chance for so much learning as many branches of feminism were represented and willing to talk to him/clue him in.
Oh well. :/
What is more also disappointing is that he doesn’t seem to be stupid, just under educated and mired in the ‘internet rational-atheist’ mode that presumes to have all the answers.

Maybe you whipped that one out just one too many times? It’s funny when I say it to you, though. lol
I don’t know. I hope she’s okay. With two little ones and a job and a partner I’m sure it’s just busyness with life. But still, it’d be nice to *know* it’s just that.

Of course, adding misogyny to a flick makes it ‘real-er’ and chock full of grit (and of course maintains the sexist status quo).
Just like adding rape scenes to Game of Thrones and then defending those scenes because it’s ‘historically accurate’… this show has dragons and ice-zombies for heaven’s sake.
Historical accuracy would look like people and soldiers dying in droves from cholera and dysentery – almost no really old people because most die young (by our standards), women dying regularly in childbirth… but no no no…its the rape that makes shit real.

ROFLMAO – hey, I don’t mind the re-drawn poster…although, the Hulk appears as if he wants to do the “pressed ham” thing, minus dropping trou in front of a window!
Great post. Here’s to equal butt-power!

Brilliant! Finally the gay population gets served with beefcake comparable to the cheesecake. Couldn’t we all just drop the sexy parts and focus on the fantastic abilities of the Avengers? No? I thought not.
