Observe the chilling conclusions when you start believing in magic and fairy tales.
The religious often have the notion that somehow they are favoured and they are special because they believe in a particular brand of religious horseshit. This particular belief once examined, leaves only the smell behind.

Who would have thought that the Jews in Auschwitz would have English accents and be so well fed ?

Again Alan, way to miss the point, but full marks for adding inconsequential babble. :)

The Arbourist ,
Oh,, I got the point . And believe it or not I have made some of the same arguments that the main speaker made, in discussions with others . The ancient Israelis coming into the promised land basically ethnically cleansed it . I do get the contradictions in Judaism and Christianity .
You missed my point . This is a movie clip . These are not the real Jews of Auschwitz . I have no idea if the Jews awaiting execution had discussions like this .
You have put out a dramatic piece of fiction and you think it carries the weight of truth in the debate over religion . I grant , the writing and acting are excellent , but it is fiction . Kind of like when people on your side thought the movie ” The Day after Tomorrow ” was scientific evidence proving Global Warming .

Are you incapable of abstract thought? Are hypothetical ideas meaningless to you? It doesn’t matter if this conversation actually happened. What matters is the ideas that come out of it. Ideas. Those things you keep avoiding.
An example of one such idea from this clip would be that a god that kills the children of bad people is being unjust and cruel to those children, therefore such a god is unjust and cruel. See that? I just got an idea being conveyed in the clip which doesn’t depend in the slightest on how factual the circumstances of the clip are.
Your objection would be like saying kiddies couldn’t possibly learn letters and numbers from Sesame Street, because Big Bird isn’t real.
” Kind of like when people on your side thought the movie ” The Day after Tomorrow ” was scientific evidence proving Global Warming .”
Anyone who would make a claim like that is most definitely not on our side. They might say that movie did a good job of conveying the movie creator’s message that global warming is an important issue. They might say that the movie did a good job of entertaining people as well as encouraged them to look into the possible consequences of global warming. Not sure though, the movie looked like crap and I didn’t see it.
But no one would say the movie proves anything. If anyone did, I assure you, I would allot them the exact same level of credibility as I would someone who claimed something was true because it said so in their holy book: none.

You are either amazingly tone deaf or amazingly disingenuous . How you frame an ” abstract thought ” matters almost as much as the thought . Now bear with me . The argument is framed as coming from Jews in an extermination camp . They are being murdered and have seen their friends murdered . They are staring mortality in the face . Their presence commands belief far beyond what you would get if you just put those actors with the same words in Muppet suits .
The global warming movie was used to justify your beliefs . The movie itself was so full of implausible events, yet it stirred a lot of ignorant idiots up, didn’t it ?

Tone deaf? I don’t see how that could possibly be relevant, but I can carry a tune with moderate success. And I meant every word.
“How you frame an ” abstract thought ” matters almost as much as the thought.”
Only to how well an idea is communicated, not to how valid the idea is.
“Their presence commands belief far beyond what you would get if you just put those actors with the same words in Muppet suits .”
So now you think the clip commands belief. You lack consistency. You also lack reading comprehension if you think what you said contradicts my earlier post. Read it again.
“The global warming movie was used to justify your beliefs”
What the hell are you going on about? Movies can raise awareness, questions, and/or interest surrounding important issues. That’s it. I addressed this ludicrous claim last post.
