Pornography is not free speech. It is a teaching tool for toxic patriarchal values that hurt women. Need to start looking into the topic of the harms of pornography? This list isn’t a bad place to start.
It’s almost like ‘free-speech’ has very different meanings for different classes of people…
“Pornography is hate speech against women. If it was any other group that was made object to such depictions it would be rightly banned and decried. Again, I reiterate my point that when Bumfights was made, homeless and socio-economically disadvantaged boys and men were made to perform degrading acts on camera for cash. These videos were then disseminated and profited from. This rightly had a huge outcry.
Yet there is a several billion dollar industry that does this to girls and women every single day and no one gives a shit. In fact, men masturbate to it. The men behind the industry lobby politics and other industries to push their product (the commercial rape on camera of girls and women,) and continue to profit while girls and women on and off screen suffer for it. For men to get off to. That’s fucked up.”

“People say, “Oh, well, pornography—that’s for masturbation, nobody can get hurt that way.” But orgasm is a very serious reward, isn’t it? Think of Pavlov’s little dogs, right? They don’t just think about salivating; they salivate. They do it because they learned it. Period. Now think about pornography. The dehumanization is a basic part of the content of all pornography without exception. Pornography in this country in the last ten years has become increasingly violent by every measure, including Playboy, including all the stuff you take for granted; and every single orgasm is a reward for believing that material, absorbing that material, responding to that value system: having a sexual response to stuff that makes women inferior, subhuman.”
