The Daily Show once again scores a home run showing the insipid, misogynistic and obstructionist nature of the current republican party.
See the clip here.
Essentially, it is a anti-government contractor gang rape bill. The bill would remove the option for US government contractors to put clauses in the contracts of their workers denying them the right to sue the company for being raped.
The American people let this party represent them for eight years.
*headdesk*
Update: Rob F. from the Words on What with the stats on the vote (see Misogyny) in the Senate . If the republicans keep this up I might begin having stirrings toward feeling proud to be Canadian.
Whoops…never-mind; latent nationalism squelched.

Hello. I’ve been browsing wordpress for blogs I like that are new, as is my own. We seem to share a despair over the state of the media. Is Canada as bad as the US? Please say no; I have to believe in something.
This morning, I put up two posts about CNN and how they make my teeth hurt.
Anyway, you have a nice blog and it’s always fun to find similar voices. (Although I haven’t the patience for long and documented posts. So good on you.)

Good day. Browsing WP is a depressing venture unto itself. The amount of far right (religious/anti-woman/objectivist/libertarian/anti-rational etc.) buffoonery is astonishing.
I read your posts on CNN and agree that the US media is indeed in a sad state of affairs.
Unfortunately in Canada the same sort of news monopoly exists and churns out the same sort of subservient pablum the US dailies are famous for.
On a brighter note we do have the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (www.cbc.ca) that does much better than the rest of the corporate media.
Thanks for stopping by. :)

I look at media and basically see ‘Bread and Circuses’ – distract everyone from looking too closely. At least we have Public Broadcasting and Cspan. And BBC world news.
