Why do things happen the way they do? Why do certain segments of society do well when everyone else is being hammered? Some would say through being “smart” and “working hard”, but that is weapons grade bullshite of the highest order. It is because, systematically, our system is being run for the benefit of one class of society and it does not matter who goes into the meat-grinder to keep this state of affairs going, as long as it is not them.
Please, tell me that society is not being run in the interests of the rich. I double dog dare ya.. :)

“Some would say through being ‘smart’ and ‘working hard'”
The first is arguable (I’d say being smarter as opposed to being smart), the second is laughable – to me, something that was put on the working class to keep them working and the continue to not only believe it, but self-promote the belief.
One of Obama’s promises was the reduction of lobbyism. Didn’t happen, and if you look at his cabinet it’s a bunch of ex-financiers. Frank-Dodd was a joke, and the only real activism against the cronyism was Occupy, which was even worse of a joke. Wouldn’t have been much difference that way with Republicans in the White House, either, I think, and because of that I think things in America are going to get worse economically and politically before they get any better, and that’s with Obama or not.
To me, best just to find a way to get your own gold so you can make your own rules. :)

I won’t argue with you there Vern. The smarter you are the easier it is find ways to be successful with in the system. Depending on how much empathy encumbrances your ambition, the smarter you are the more people and resources you can exploit for your personal gain.
I missed that I think it was blocked out by the list of professional and business class firms that had/are donating to his campaign.
I agree Vern. Not without the sort of pressure exerted during the Great Depression that got FDR to legislate a social contract of sorts will there be any improvement.
Power never concedes power unless forced to do so.
Suit up, its going to be a rocky ride.
