Many of the serous Atheists seem to be ex Mormons, ex Catholics, etc. I’m curious if that is as common as it appears. Are y’all disenchanted holy rollers or do Atheists pass down their values through the generations?

Neither. I was fortunate in that my parents didn’t try to force any theistic B.S on me. They didn’t bash it either. It wasn’t really discussed.
What they did teach me was about being thoughtful and considerate. This lead to my atheism.
That said, there are no atheist values to pass down. Atheism is simply the answer ‘no’ to the question ‘Do you believe in god(s)?’ Personally, values that I like to spread are ones of rationality and my particular brand of humanism and secularism. Said another way, my atheism comes from my values and ideas, not the other way around.
