You know the saying, “Oh bloody hell!” Time to change it to “Oh bloody heaven!” I have to share a little recent anecdote. It was a village reunion – 50 years to be exact. It was once a Catholic place, then revivals swept and many people became “born again” Christians. So I’m up there talking about compassion, and how I’ve designed my retirement to encompass a business I use to help people, or if it pays, to use that money in the community in whatever way seems proper to me. I never use the word charity. Anyway, this nice lady says to me, “Oh, that’s so nice. You are earning your place in heaven one act at a time.” I guess you could say “the Devil made me do it” but without thinking I said, “Oh fuck heaven. I know too many people going there and it’s the last place I’d want to end up in.” I guess that fits with your theme, and I agree totally.

Everything I’ve ever read about heaven makes it sounds like hell to me. Being forced to praise a murderous, monstrous deity for all eternity would literally be torture to me.

To all of the above, I must reply: “My sediments exactly” – and please don’t eat all the chocolate chip cookies before I get there!!!
