The solution to thwart this insidious strategy of systematically stripping Canadians of their rights lies in enforcing the law with unyielding equality, blind to race or religion, a principle that stands as the bedrock of a just society. The Rational Posts narrative reveals a troubling trend: public outrage over Muslims praying in streets or Indians celebrating Diwali with fireworks, and now shotguns on a bridge, triggers blanket bans, from Quebec’s prohibition on public prayer to municipal fireworks restrictions, effectively punishing entire communities rather than addressing specific transgressions. This corrosive approach, echoing the divisive echoes of Jim Crow or apartheid, corrodes multicultural unity and foments resentment, as social cohesion studies irrefutably demonstrate. Instead, precise legislation targeting reckless acts, such as discharging firearms irresponsibly, must replace these broad edicts, ensuring accountability without stifling cultural expression. Fair laws unite: bans divide. Let us, with urgent resolve, choose the former and reclaim a Canada where justice, not prejudice, prevails.

How does one ‘reclaim’ a broken system? Parliaments are filled with useless ‘representatives’ who en masse are the first line of defence against any meaningful changes to the leader’s blanket authority, an authority that operates by intentional partisan policies and authoritarian warped legislation guaranteeing no systemic reclamation to equality rights and a fair policing is possible… especially by individuals. Pretending individuals have any means to do so is simply pie-in-the-sky belief unmoored to reality. Yes, we can see how and why the system is broken, and we can understand how further social division is not just systemically promoted and therefore inevitable, but pretending individuals can fix it? That’s delusional thinking. Individuals must be empowered for this to be anything else and that requires a systemic change. Under our current form of government, that’s never going to happen because it CANNOT happen. No amount of contrary or hopeful belief is going to change what’s true in fact. There is political advantage to authoritarian bans so no amount of individual ‘choosing otherwise’ matters.

The Arbourist
We fix the shattered pot one shard at a time.
It’s a daunting project, but I’m in for it. The bastards are keenly aware that a demoralized populace is a compliant populace – I won’t play their game although, admittedly, the scope of what is required is stultifying.
Supporting advocacy and activism from the likes of the Canadian Constitution Foundation (which I do) are important steps in the project.
I can only do what I can do, but I’ll do my damnedest to move the needle toward preserving Canada I grew up in.

Yes, I too am a regular contributor to the CCF and other important bulwarks against authoritarian overreach. But when shooting up on playground equipment is viewed legally as a constitutional right, that my pocket is viewed and treated as a bottomless source for income for social parasites, when my political consent is systemically made irrelevant, I do not share your optimism of outcome. I understand the mountain is only growing higher no matter how much any of us dig with our fingernails. Yes, we can dig, but let’s be realistic: individuals cannot alter the system and the system is broken.
