The burning legion of stupid, led by Harper and his Conservative clown government balefully plods on toward making Canada’s prison system a mirror image of the failed system present in the United States. Do we really need to frack things up Canada-Harper style to get the message that this is a gigantic mistake?
The next election Canadians had better wake up and get this farcical excuse of a governing party out of power.
It is amazing that fox news can get away with such an amazing amount of mendacity and still function. I wonder how long a similar station broadcasting from a different point of view would last on the air waves.
Liberal Viewer catches Faux News in yet another bald faced lie.
Liberal Viewer is taking a fine tooth comb to the action of the police during the OWS protests. More importantly he is speaking directly to what the character of the US is about. It the US a constitutional democracy or is it a autocratic oligarchy that will defend the interests of the rich before the rights of the poor (yes, yes I know false dichotomy but we are being dramatic here). The protests and coverage are writing a new chapter in the rights that people are allowed to express in the US. You can sit on the sidelines and critique OWS on any number of areas, and justifiably so, what and how they are doing is far from perfect. However, what also needs to be examined is what by extension they are doing for those of us who are not participating.
The protesters are documenting and recording how the state treats dissident views. What you are seeing is how well your rights as a citizen stand up to the power of the state and its coercive apparatus. The OWS protests are a litmus test as to exactly how much freedom and liberties are accorded in society. So before you cast aspersions and uncritical invective at OWS, perhaps consider what it would be like if you were demonstrating and vocalizing an idea that meant enough to put your freedom and safety on the line.
Liberal viewer does his usual exemplary job of describing the media. Faux News never fails to deliver when it comes to making sure that the interests of the people are marginalized and put forth in the worst possible light. The OWS movement has brought new life into the economic debate in the US opening new avenues of debate and discussion that were previously off-limits.
It is not even a useful question anymore. Fox News might as well be renamed the Republican Party News Channel and get it over with. What they are doing more resembles propaganda than anything else. Liberal Viewer continues his expose on the foibles of faux news.
And to think that a good segment of the American populations has views that are informed by this station, it is the stuff of nightmares for rational people.
I wonder who qualifies for or what calculus is used to determine who is entitled to civil rights and who is not?
Certainly, the label “terrorist” is the great borax of civil liberty removal because obviously you become sub human once said label is applied. Witness the reluctance in the US, that great city shining on the hill we all aspire to, to shut down the services of Guantanamo Bay where people are being held without due process. Liberal Viewer from you tube adds more light to the subject using, of course, the Daily Show to bring the issue into sharp relief. It is disquieting to see the demure acquiescence of the major news media in the land of the free, and it must be a comedy satire show that sounds the clarion call on such important issues.
I am hoping that the Fox News Canada channel really does not go through. Faux News repeatedly spreads lies, rumours and generally serves as the propaganda wing for the Republican Party in the US. Let us hope their contamination stays south of the 49th parallel.
