This short video is entitled the Crisis of Capitalism, and depicts the recent history of what has happened over here in the Western world. I think it speaks correctly on several of the shortcomings of the capitalist system and is well worth your 10 minuets your time.

You’re welcome! Of course I disagree at large with the video, but you can’t accuse me of not playing fair now, can you? :)

It was really weird Mr.Kaine as this video appeared on a blog that I follow called Sociological Images. It is a great source of knowledge and neat ideas. Your comment and the when I set this up to come up today almost perfectly coincided. Good show though, it is nice to see that you can at appreciate arguments that you do not necessarily agree with.
I’m finding the partisan divide quite pronounced as of late, at least on Ben’s blog, and I find that to be one of the greatest impediments to starting meaningful discourse sometimes over there. It is frustrating at times, to say the least.
but you can’t accuse me of not playing fair now, can you? :)

I was referred by web search to Daniel Pink’s animate on motivation, and found that in some of the other animates on RSA’s site. Guess I can’t take credit for you posting it here (that’s ok, though!)
Re: Partisanship and Ben’s blog, I agree. It’s far from constructive, and at the risk of sounding melodramatic I find the general discourse over there to be intolerable. Not sure if you saw the particular exchange where I reached my endpoint with it, but it was an interesting one to say the least and I haven’t returned since.

The Arbourist,
The video bashes capitalism. I’m not sure of what it proposes as solutions other than abandoning capitalism. I suppose I am a broken record, but you are aware that American history is full of severe recessions and depressions. 1819, 1837, 1857, 1873, 1893, 1907, 1929
For the poor people who lived through them, I’m sure it was the end of the world. I’m sure that during most of them Populist, Socialist, and Communist leaders arose and bashed the Capitalist system. The Capitalist economy would never recover. The rich had to be punished for what they did to the poor.
Yet somehow, each time the Capitalist system reset. New men rose from poverty and became rich. Somehow, despite the temptation such as now, to abandon Capitalism, we did not. Somehow the evil Capitalist America, out produced Fascist Germany and Japan to win WW2. Somehow the evil Capitalist America outlasted the Progressive, Socialist paradise, know as the USSR, in the Cold War.
Will American Capitalism outlast and defeat it’s greatest foe, Barak Obama? Stay tuned .
