This is an appeal to clear the cobwebs and remember those crazy and badly acted action flicks. Gems like Commando and Total Recall. You can go early 90’s but we need the vintage of Action Genre. Please post your suggestions in the comments..:)
We just finished watching Total Recall, so you cannot use that one. :>

Not sure what genre this fits into, but one of my all-time favorites is “True Romance” with Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette. Lots of action, though (especially the ending!)
Another favorite of the time period is Tango & Cash.

From JCVD – Bloodsport has always been a personal favorite, though Lionheart takes the cake for it’s outrageously awesome use trip trip triple replays of every flying kick.
For more Arnie, I would go with some Predator. Vern already covered Sly with the Tango and Cash.
Though if you are looking for Cheesy 80’s action, but with more modern 10’s camera work, may I suggest The Expendables. It is everything you could hope for in the 80’s action flicks, including the actors, and almost none of the cheesy story. Just pure good old fashioned action.

I was pleasantly surprised with how little cheese was in Expendables. I enjoyed it a lot.
Bloodsport is a timeless classic, for sure!

The Godfather of action flicks is “Die Hard.” If you like it with a side order of sappy, watch the most played movie on cable television–Road House. If you want a little time frame bending self-mockery you have to go for Streets of Fire.

How could I forget Die Hard? Forgive me for I have sinned.
What do you think, BSP, T1 or T2?

Kinda deviating into the martial arts hybrid movies, but Jackie Chan’s Rumble in the Bronx is just excellent (filmed in the 80’s, brought over here in the 90’s) as is The Drunken Master and Mr. Nice Guy. The Once Upon A Time In China is well worth seeing too. Of course, how could any list of martial arts movies be complete without mentioning Bruce Lee. From The Kato Show to Enter The Dragon, you can’t go wrong with him.

I completely forgot about Die Hard! There are just so many canonical movies to see from the 80/90’s :> Thanks for the reminders :)
