The number of people who buy (yes pun intended) into this cr*p never ceases to amaze me.
Delusional christians should be asking – “If there really is a god, why does she not give everyone a brain?”

Does it look like they are in a church or temple to you? The Bible doesn’t say you can’t sell anything, anywhere.

Welcome.
You’re going to quibble about where these loons can peddle their horsepucky? Is that your major objection to the video?

The Arbourist ,
This is from your discussion on another board with Luke.
” So, if you’d like one point of contention to talk about, please tell me how snakes talk. ”
They talk with a forked tongue .
You do realize that as in the Bible you also have contradictions in science ? In science is a photon a particle or a wave ? How can it be both ?

Err…I’m not sure how to answer this Mr.Scott. Are you actually postulating that at some point in history snakes possessed the necessary apparatus to vocalize intelligibly to humans?
[…] you also have contradictions in science ? In science is a photon a particle or a wave ? How can it be both ?
Absolutely. The wave particle duality still presents many challenges. We’re working on them….
I’m not sure where you are going with this line of though Mr.Scott, possibly a comparison between religious contradictions versus ones present in Science? I think that they are hard to make a apples to apples comparison as it seem, in my view, that the religious side expects absolute compliance – snakes do talk, as well as bushes; just accept it. The science side looks for a better way to describe reality as evidenced by quantum field theory which does much to address many of the problems of the wave-particle duality, seeking to explain more of what we do not know.

The Arbourist ,
I am merely analyzing your constant attacks on the Bible . I am not an expert on the Bible . It is a large book with all kinds of inconsistancies and contradictions . You scan the entire book and find obscure attack points . Then you get into discussions with lay people and ask them to defend what would demand a Biblical scholar to argue .
Science is also large and is filled with it’s own uncertainties . Humanity is a limited entity trying to understand an infinite universe . Since you believe in science as the answer to life’s deeper questions, just as a Christian believes in religion, it is fair for me demand you admit that even in your philosophy of science there are still mysteries .
The snake remark was just a ridiculous answer to your ridiculous question . Scientifically a snake can’t talk. Religiously God can do whateve he wants , even cause a snake to speak . Snakes forked tongues have been used through out human literature as a metaphor for double talk, double speak, and talking out of both sides of one’s mouth . I’m sure you must know folks who do that .

I’m glad we can agree on this point Mr.Scott.

If this is the perfect word of god, I should not find *any* places to attack because it should be, by holy writ, true. The problem is, as you agree, the bible is inconsistent and decidedly unperfect as it contains more than a few reprehensible ideas and notions.
Since you believe in science as the answer to life’s deeper questions, just as a Christian believes in religion, it is fair for me demand you admit that even in your philosophy of science there are still mysteries .
I’m pretty sure there is a difference between the two Mr.Scott. You can’t really ‘believe’ in anything in science without proof. Science is a methodological way of determining the accuracy of our claims about the universe, notions that are inaccurate or incorrect are discarded when evidence pointing to a different solution present themselves or are discovered.
Religion is not like that. There is only the truth, with no exceptions. That truth though seems to vary from religion to religion, heck even sect to sect within christianity. I have no doubt Mr.Scott, that we are both going to hell by somebodie’s holy book. So the question becomes, why bother with such inconsistent ideas when there is an option available that is at least internally consistent with the physical reality that surrounds us?
Scientifically a snake can’t talk. Religiously God can do whateve he wants
Why doesn’t he stop wars and cure cancer? Why do children suffer and die needlessly if some benevolent being is supposedly watching out for us? Nah, we don’t need to believe in sociopathic sky daddies. It just isn’t necessary.
Snakes forked tongues have been used through out human literature as a metaphor…
I wouldn’t have a problem if we routinely found the bible in the fiction section.

I do not argue the Bible is a perfect book, but in this hell you say we are both going to, I expect to be at least 4 levels above you . Blasphemers are in the 7th circle . I’ll be in the 3rd circle with the rest of the gluttons .
” Why doesn’t he stop wars and cure cancer? Why do children suffer and die needlessly if some benevolent being is supposedly watching out for us? ”
When I visit sick relatives I ask myself that . I don’t have an answer . I only know you are wrong . I at least have someone to complain to . Even in your secular world the Gods of random chance must crap all over you sometimes . Must be tough to rage at science .
