That about sums it up. And Obama could do more if republicans weren’t so far in the pockets of big business to actually pass laws that made a difference for most people. But if you wonder what the numbers are all about, I’ll tell you… It, in this instance, is a clear reason why we need checks and balances against campaign finance, or even better, why we need to centralize campaign finance and stop outside money. Romney has more money, and because of that he is neck and neck with Obama. All the man does is lie about shit, but he looks better to people when he can afford more “attack ads” than the other guy.

I would agree that both parties have their heads up the asses of big business; much like the CPC and LPC here in Canada. On social issues though they couldn’t be farther apart. One chooses to view women with thinly veiled disdain, trashing their own presidential candidates based on how they dress and look instead of what they think and do whilst the other party is currently conducting the republican war on women.
I guess they aren’t all that different.

I’m thinking that for mainstream politics in Canada the NDP is going to be the only way to get Canada back on track and stem the neo-conservative tide of BS that has been front and centre for too many years.

Sadly, I think the NDP boat sailed with Jack Layton. Mulcair just seems like an idiot to me. I’d be willing to be that the (was it 2) seats in Alberta that they got last election will be turning blue next election. Also, since Saskatchuwan’s economy has an increasingly large oil and gas sector, they can kiss away any gains they got there. Sooo… I guess unless they count on the LPC continuing to flounder and lose seats (which is possible), they can kiss away any chances of forming a government.
Any fiscal hawks will be scared away by Mulcair. I think Layton managed to lure some of them over, with his talk about sustained and appropriate growth. Mulcair just comes off as anti-business. This leaves anyone who puts economic interests first with only 1 party to go to, the CPC. I think we can look forward to another 10-15 years of CPC rule here in Canada. That is, unless something drastic happens.
Also, calling something Dutch disease just feels racist. It’s demonstrably not, but it -feels- racist, and -feels- is a lot more important that facts in politics. Low information voters (ie. the majority) are not going to bother looking up what he means by Dutch disease.

Not if I can help it. The valiant NDP orange dot in the sea of blue is my riding and I’ll work to ensure it stays that way. :)
I sincerely hope not Bleat – the harpercons are selling the people of Canada down the river – trying for failed state status like our southern neighbour.
Then we kinda get what we deserve then, no?
