“Forget the politicians. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice … you don’t. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own, and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought, and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the state houses, the city halls, they got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies, so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear. They got you by the balls.” — George Carlin

One wonders if the world will ever change in a way that would make Carlin’s words untrue. It seems unlikely.

I especially had to like this since the SCOTUS decided to completely stomp a suit against warrantless wiretaps.

On what grounds did they do the stomping? I’m sure that “we’re tools of hegemonic power” isn’t something you can write in a decision.

Not in agreement with them; I’m pretty sure that whatever infectious agent of insanity is being used on the Tea Party has gone viral in the houses of power in Washington.
It kind of makes me wish SOMEone had done psych studies of empires in decline to analyze the mental processes. Because I really wonder if things like that written into record are speaking from some mass hysteria or merely individual craziness.

Someone has. Ronald Wright’s a book A Short History of Progress provides great insight into the societal seppuku we are currently engaged in. The link is to the CBC Massey Lecture series that found its way to youtube.
