I wonder what the causal and correlational links may be that seem to produce a higher-than-average number of engineers/dentists and the popularity in these groups of faith-based belief supported by confirmation bias. I’m sure that would make for an interesting Masters of doctoral thesis.

It could be for the specialists in their fields lack a bit of background that is required to delve into critical thinking.
I’m tempted to plug the Arts here with regards to the broadening of awareness and laying the template for a more critical view of the world.
Gould’s separate dual magesteria also comes to mind, being able to compartmentalize the magic and non-magic aspect of their personal and professional lives. They get caught out like our friend in JZ’s video when the magesteria overlap and begin to use magic to try to explain real world events.
