Wow, talk about the madonna/whore dichotomy illustrated. Take mom out of her apron and slippers and let her walk by on the street –woohoo.

Figured I’d see this up on DWR soon enough! Great video, and a great example of the right way to use powerbases to call out and influence behavior as opposed to the usual shit. Let’s just hope the lesson sticks.

I could be wrong, but I think this was filmed in Chile.
There’s also a video of a guy “complimenting” random men on the streets and then asking them why they react violently instead of “flattered”. Makes very valid points.
Some entitled guys on the streets here go from annoying to embarassing and then straight forward to disgusting and creepy in only a few seconds.
Down here, in Latin America, to have a guy tell you “oh, I was just in the park, you know, looking at @sses” is the most common thing.
As if it were a hobby or a sport. I don’t get it. I don’t even think they get it themselves. Then they pretend to be in “shock” when a woman gets shot and/or beaten to death by her (male) partner. It’s all equally functional to patriarchy.
Oh, right, but those who oppose it are called “feminazis”. Because asking to be recognized and treated as a human being is so “nazi”, but dehumanizing women systematically is totally OK…
They’re used to look at us (just random women) as if we were “things” that walk on the streets and exist to arouse them.
Not because we’re going to our jobs, or to study, or to pick up the kids at school, or buy groceries, or anything.
“Things.” No, wait, sorry, “@sses”.

Charming. I’m surprised we haven’t had the #notallmen defense employed yet. It is hard for some men to understand that even if they personally don’t do it – it doesn’t mean woman can just change their ingrained defense mechanisms for them.
As a direct threat to male dominance and power in society, we should expect nothing less. :(
Objectification is grand, isn’t it. :(
