Do you have a problem understanding the word “both”?
“Both” includes the women and oppression part of the conversation. It doesn’t have to be one way or the other – actually, it’s irresponsible to ignore connected facets to the issues if you actually value bringing a more complete understanding of the issue.
It’s somewhat like blaming the heating element in the toaster for repeatedly burning your bread … while ignoring that there are other controls that determine how the heating element functions. Yes, the heating element is what is causing the burning, but context as to why it is doing that is important in solving the problem. That is why gender relations should also be included.
