I agree, except “conservative” is the wrong word. It is “regressive” not “conservative.” Now, if only conservatives actually conserved something worthy of conserving!

The issue is people use the word “conservative” in different ways. People who actually conserve things worth conserving (like the health of the planet) should take the word back. The original meaning of “conservative” is resistance to change, preserving cherished values. Now, it is a euphemism for the extreme right— a regressive movement, not a conservative one! The word “liberal” is similar in that it means vastly different things to different people and has been perverted over time.
