There is an old saw that one should never marry someone who has lower standards that you do. I think this must have been written by someone whose standards are a sliding scale. Probably a guy, yeah, a guy, whose standard of, say, messiness has no bounds.

I hope so too. The corrosive presence of male socialization and patriarchy make retaining lessons learned about being a good person very difficult at times.
