With atheists the Venn diagram consists of three separate circles – each surrounded by the void. All carved out by a careless application of Occam’s Razor – based on the positivist double-think that everything you do not know, does not exist and cannot exist.
(How silly to think that anything you don’t know exists could possibly exist! Hahahaha!)
First, there’s the circle of animal instinct. All that exists is what your animal instincts tell you exists. ‘How do I know? My evolved motivators tell me so!’
Second, the circle of social-animal function, where division of labor over time devolves society to an ant colony.
Each ant must know its place. All ant knowledge is functional – need to know.
Even High Ant Culture is just a haughty pretense of the High Born and their scene-sucking sycophants. It’s also functional: a social-status display. (All the world’s a stage. All the world’s a fiction. All the world’s a guise.)
Ants in the know, know everything is meaningless. (How do they know? Their pheromones tell them so!)
Why don’t they just lay down and die in the middle of the sidewalk? (Like the suit in the “Just” video by Radiohead?) They drown themselves in the shallow water before they get too deep!
Third, the circle of animal culture. The deeper people get into the tree of knowledge, the more sophisticated the web of lies they have to spin to Whitewash their savagery. (‘The masks the monsters wear to feed upon their prey.’) And the finer the rainments of nothingness they stitch together with an abstraction of fabric that only mimics the knowledge of good: virtue, honor, kindness, honesty, civic duty, public trust, etc.
All in all: it’s far from an improvement!
You think people are silly for searching for something more? I’d say, it’s the other way around!
(Jesus knocks it out of the park, again! The crowd go wild as he circles the bases: Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!)
