The good-cop-bad-cop show goes on dominating media “discussion”. Weeks ago Fauchi said we wouldn’t have any stress from the virus. Trump is a compliant good media character actor ( basically he can be his awful self) benefiting immensely from all this.

Excuse my French, but what a fucking nightmare. And I used to be critical of politicians who spewed rhetorical pablum. Now I would find it refreshing.
I have been working an a SF story for a while about a democracy that required their politicians to receive an implant that excretes a chemical which prevents lying and how that might distort how people behave (and what kinds of questions are allowed, e.g. are you cheating on your wife kinds of questions) and, of course, what happens when a politician finds out that the truth drug doesn’t exactly work on him.
Of course if this pol were to tell Trump-like whoppers he would be found out almost immediately, so he has to be subtle, if you know what I mean.
