It is indefensible for anyone anywhere to support the deplorable actions of Hamas. It is naked terrorism and mass murder. Anyone who does support such atrocity in the name of something else has no moral foundation on which to do so. Anyone who celebrates this action has no place in any civilization.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/10/8/israeli-lawmaker-blames-pogroms-against-palestinians-for-terrible-attacks I think that all of us disagree with apartheid, but seem to alter its definition depending on our politics. Is the author correct in using the term Fascist Government? When viewed against current legislation to remove considerable power of the judiciary, the author may have a point. This conflict didn’t start yesterday, or the day before, or the day before that.

Yes it is always horrible when people evicted from their homes and living under “supervision” that has both feet on their throats and joyously eliminates their future and often their lives take any retaliation.
It is a simple prison riot by the wrongfully incarcerated.
Considering the prison rules and conditions it is very difficult to see any humanity in the guards.
But please feel free to defend yourself.
Thought experiment.
Imagine if they created Israel out of your hometown and absolutely restricted your every endeavour?
For perspective consider American “terrorism”
“The show’s (60 minutes) correspondent Lesley Stahl asked Albright about the effect that U.N. sanctions were having on Iraqi society, saying, “We have heard that a half-million children have died. I mean, that’s more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?”
Albright responded with chilling equanimity: “I think this is a very hard choice, but the price — we think the price is worth it.”

Disgusting. And yet I’m seeing pro-terrorist both-sidesing and yes-butting from the extreme left (the same kind of people who support and excuse pro-trans violence and bullying), as well as cheering for Hamas from more traditional anti-Semites and neo-Nazis on the far right. The worst vermin on both “sides” really are much more alike than different.
Israel withdrew its occupation of the Gaza Strip in 2005. It’s already “de-colonized”. It already has self-determination (which it used to elect Hamas). Israel restricting entry from the Gaza Strip is no different than any country restricting entry from outside its borders; Egypt also doesn’t allow Gazans to enter in most cases.
Liberation movements don’t massacre children and gang-rape women. Barbarians do that.
In past retaliations for terror attacks, Israel has gone to almost absurd lengths to minimize enemy civilian casualties (robocalling people in targeted areas with warnings to leave, for example). We see now how much good that did. Time to take the gloves off.
