This is a frustrating clip to watch. The host is constantly talking over the guest as she tries to respond to the attempted ‘gotcha’ questions being posed.
I think we need to be clear here. There is no need to “Experts” to weigh in on keeping sexually explicit and pornographic material out of public school libraries. We need to keep age appropriate books in public school libraries – and certainly there can and should be discussion about the exact guidelines.
Children do not need to know about dildos, strap-ons, and anal rape. This shouldn’t be a hard issue to comprehend.

A really good deep dive here into what books are in school libraries (very heavily favouring the progressive narrative and VERY much not carrying conservative voices) and how incredibly rare it is to ban books outright. Even sexually graphic books about perversions and kinks and paedophilia are often available in high school libraries (but lacking reasonable balance of conservative books by otherwise famous and well respected authors). Removing the more graphic and lurid books from elementary schools are often reported as ‘banning’ by most media outlets and they often portray the various concerned groups (like Moms) as few in number but usually some boilerplate version of extreme right wing religious fanatics. Interestingly, an actual book burning was carried out by a school board in Ontario (in 2021!) but presented to the public as an act of ‘reconciliation’ by returning a wood product back to the earth in a ‘cleansing’ ceremony.
Batshit crazy is hardly a right wing exclusive as most media (and school libraries) like to pretend it is.

I’m surprised a little about the distribution of books in American Libraries, but it seems par for the course when it comes to the political divide. If not given 120% of what they want – elements of the Left – call foul (hate speech, racism, -phobic et cetera).
That is a great article for diffusing the narrative of the ‘right’ wanting to ban books in schools. The counter narrative would be if we are nation that celebrates individualism and merit then books from both sides should be available and why would you want to stifle healthy debate and investigation.
I’m see more evidence that the narrative of the “reality has a left-wing bias” is really quite thin.

I suspect not that many people actually grasp the difference between hard and soft censorship. Carrying four out of five books BECAUSE they align with a current ideology is a very good example of being able to somewhat censor without being seen to censor. I think this offers us a good example of that.
