“Do you want a dead son or a live daughter?” A phrase used by countless gender clinicians to emotionally blackmail parents into allowing their troubled children to be placed on a conveyor belt to a lifetime of medicalized self-harm. It was always based on an odious lie.

“These findings underscore the fact that most youth presenting with GD have a high rate of co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses, which predate the onset of GD by months to years. The minority stress theory is an unlikely explanation, esp. for the diagnoses of autism, ADHD, etc.
“These latest findings further support the direction by the Finnish, English, and Swedish health authorities that psychotherapy (rather than medical gender transition) should be prioritized for most youth presenting with gender-related distress.”

So… the importance of such research is to provide good data to inform best practices. Notice on the claim of suicidality for children diagnosed with ‘gender dysphoria’ but who are not affirmed doesn’t not match reality. That should matter. However, that direction for research is now backwards.
Here’s the new directive for NIH (National Institute of Health, public investment body on research with a budget 48.9 billion PUBLIC dollars for 2024) called ‘Policy on Stigmatizing Research’ (notice how broad a scope this covers):
“Stigmatizing research is any research… that has the potential to instigate or promote marginalization, discrimination, or loss of status by a person or group of people. Stigma may be inherent in the research design… or a byproduct of the research findings.”
Yeah, I’m almost sure this is going to play out well in funding important research for the results from ‘gender care’.
So much for reality’s role in arbitrating ideological claims made out it. Let’s stick to the script, everyone, and just keep doubling down on how righteous it all is.

that line about the live daughter or dead son (or vice versa) always struck me as the vilest form of emotional manipulation.
