Ignoring per capita realities or dismissing them as misleading sustains a politicized myth that distorts public understanding and policy. Honest engagement with victim-survey evidence demands rejecting narratives that equate vastly unequal patterns, focusing instead on addressing root causes without excusing directional disparities.
