Also, a big thing floating around right now, something that was released in Texas (Of Course) and a few other places was 2016 Obama’s America. I’d be interested in hearing what you think about that movie. It’s full of conspiracy theory and junk like that, but what’s so funny about it is that when you peal away the bullshite, and look at the policy thought that may actually have a basis in reality, I don’t have a problem with Obama. In fact, I hated him when he was first elected because I was in the military and brainwashed into that way of thinking growing up, and I am not any more.
Certainly, I am not fond of Citizens United, Corporate Personhood, or the corruption of politics with unlimited corporate money, but when I have actually gone out looking for information myself, I certainly don’t hate the man anymore.
Some of these “profound claims” in the film, which could actually be correct but the reason they are so shocking is because the makers of the film are “pro-capitalism, pro-imperialism, pro-dominance slanted” and they don’t realize that you can’t buy freedom with capitalism. I may wish to reform the American Political system, but I am with Obama about his policies on many points, not out of some conditioned loyalty like I was when I was a conservative. It’s funny how they complain about the kind of America Obama is building, demonize socialized systems, demonizing Obama’s family, policy and further and all the same non-sense which has gotten us no where but into a situation with a shrinking middle-class, and stifled growth.
The effect the cold war had on policy is chocking America, and honestly we need someone who isn’t going to follow with more of the same. Policy wise Obama appears to believe that, but it seems either he is unable to get others on board, or is unable or unwilling to do it… I don’t really know. But I do believe society creates wealth, and giving the keys to capitalists will end in a future dystopia of Corrupt Corporatist Government, much like that of the video-game series Deus Ex, made written and produced by Square Enix in Japan. I think other nations see these things about American politics and policy and are just playing off of one predictive outcome for a future America.
What’s sad is that I don’t think most conservatives realize that the kind of America that corporate control will produce isn’t an America that will benefit anyone but the top 1%, of which most of us are not. Aggressive Market control and manipulation for profit is all this breed of capitalism produces… And people are eating it up with this movie because they don’t have a clue that capitalism isn’t “economic freedom” it’s monetary slavery for the majority who aren’t CEOs. Capitalism wasn’t what made America what it is, it was the socialization of programs which created social safety nets, and moves to check and balance against greed.
I am surprised that the Cold War mentality has survived this long and because of that message is lost on the religious and right-wing conservatives because they can’t think critically for long enough to unhinge the religious suppression of the USSR from socialized anything. I just really hope that we aren’t in for a future of oppression via the wealthy, but it’s already starting to look that way. Wonder how long it will take for them to abolish the minimum wage they have been refusing to raise in spite of spiking cost of living increases. And guess who as made record profits off of it? Need I say?
