Hot coffee, the handy indoor fireplace and a warm laptop. -25 centigrade? My warm fire says GTFO. :)

I spent the early part of my shift browsing the various news networks catching up on the world by the warm light of the fire and my laptop. It was calm and quiet and I dare say contemplative as I digested the news. A great way to start the day. :)

@JZ
It was toasty :) The sad part is that usually the fireplace is turned off for the weekends (when I work). This is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to take in the experience and partially why I thought it merited a photoblog post.

I Nepal i discovered the greatest invention ever made by man: a table depressed into the floor, something like sitting around the edge of a spa (Jacuzzi) with your legs dangling down. A thick carpet lined the edge of the table, falling down around your waist and sealing everything below from the outside. At the bottom was a great burning coal pit… Toasty!

That sounds like heaven. Akin to the Icelandic hot-spring experience, only without the wet. :)

Practical Parsimony
I have never seen and indoor fire pit. What are the cables or wires surrounding it?

Those cables are to discourage people from doing silly things with fire, as the fire pit is located in a public building. :)
