Unpleasantly interesting DV goes up whether they win or lose though. Football, just another excuse to treat women like shit. If it wasn’t football, it would be something else.
The fault is not that of football. Big revelation – it could possibly be due to men? Hmm I’ll need to go away and think about that one.

It’s the same story over and over. The history of misogyny is written in the blood of women. Dudes don’t have to like that fact, they have to own it and do their best to change the present for the better.

Agreed. My hometown hockey team were five time champions during the heyday of my youth. Not so much now.
Them losing, and they’ve excelled at that as late (since the 90’s) does cause me some small amount of anguish but has the urge to engage in violence because of that?
Never ever.
The disrespect and disregard of women that is the normalized background of our societies and thus needs to be pointed out repeatedly, because misogyny in its natural state, is subsumed into the fabric of society.

I can’t imagine loving a sports team so much that I feel the need to beat my wife because they lost. The non sequitur is real. Reasonable actions that would logically follow your favourite team getting knocked out of a sporting event:
Getting on with your life as nothing has actually changed about your life.
The end.
I just don’t get the violence. I just don’t get it.

Or light 17 buses on fire, as they have in Brazil…
