Damn, and you think that Math would be straightforward. I’m contemplating throwing this at students when I get to sub in for a Math teacher – I can’t wait. :)

Numbers are like thoughts… there are so many ways to come at the same thing. Teaching people to use the easiest will win many converts to the joys of math.
JZ, if you think of a negative number as a ‘thing’ then you can manipulate it as you can anything else, and you can always add or take away things.
