This just isn’t right, not at any time or circumstance. Yet, these witty ad-wizards have decided that sexism sells and are trying to promote a translation device that allows you, as demonstrated, to creep on non-English speakers.
Awesome.
Cringe worthy to say the least.

Um. Or rather ugh. The only good thing was that a fair number of them ran away and rejected him.
Seeing as he mentioned the UK, I’m not sure it is (or was) common practice, although I did leave the London train once to be greeted by a total stranger who flung his arms round me, kissed me, and went on his merry way. Natch, he didn’t bother asking …

Kissed by a total stranger? WTF?
Personal boundaries, what are they?
And herein lies the problem, men don’t get treated like this. It just doesn’t happen to them and thus, when women start calling shit like this out it is a fucking revelation to them. Like Xmas coming on the 26th or something for godssake. And with these earth-shattering revelations we get the insipid questions and skepticism that seems to be inherent when trying to make dudes understand the female experience.
It is vexatious at times. :/

Hey. Lucky me. A total stranger found me attractive. Shouldn’t I have been grateful? Chased after him? Thanked him?
My partner has had his arse groped (by women) more than once. They didn’t get a cute smile and an appreciative sigh. They got told to take their hands off.
Cracking eg of double standards, and the ubiquitous male privilege of course. :(

Reblogged this on The Melodramatic Confessions of Carla Louise and commented:
This is seriously not okay; and should not be viewed as ‘funny’ in any sense. Imagine a stranger, one who didn’t speak your language, coming up to you and trying to tell you “It’s okay, I should be allowed to kiss you because it’s what we do from my country.” Imagine how frightened some women would be – and that’s without knowing their background, their history, their past and their present.

Ya, even though they were all actors the people backing this should immediately have this add pulled and fire the CEO of this company. This is quite possibly the worst ad I’ve ever saw and I think it is going to do serious damage to the brand. Like seriously wtf, are they trying to tell us their target consumer for this product would be creepy dudes that are very sexually aggressive but somehow haven’t landed themselves in prison yet?
You know what would have made it an amazing ad? Simply ending at the point where the actors are all amazed at the translator working well for each scene. Then maybe diversify by showing the device being used to do many things you would use as a tourist, like ordering food or so forth. That. Things you would actually use this thing for. Gah!
