On the topic, I recommend watching the movie, “The Help” Adding racism to misogyny, the story makes it’s point clearly.

Your post is very relevant to the debates I am having with other socialists on the issue of transgender. The demand to treat male-to-female transitioners as women, end of story, buries the whole issue of females’ lifetime of socialisation. Until recently socialists generally accepted that socialisation was an important aspect of women’s oppression. Now the issue is more or less buried.

That’s a spot-on analysis by Johnson. He’s got some good reviews on goodreads, but reading them, I wonder if he says anything new? I was entertained by some of the comments: the woman who preferred to be an egalitarianist not a feminist (too gender binary …) and others who thought it was a very authoritative work, because a man wrote it, not some whiney feminist. Clearly they might want to re-read and see if they correctly understood the definition of patriarchy.
