We try to replicate what we see in our society and media. We as a society need to stop portraying women in media as mere eye candy for the male-gaze. Of course, if you happen to be Legolas, the rules do not apply. :)

IIRC, the actress in the shot with Bloom didn’t want to do the T&A pose and was fighting with the people in charge. Bloom volunteered himself to the T&A pose so that she didn’t have to and thus that poster. That’s IIRC that is.

I notice that Legolas’ butt is at least covered up, and women’s butts are exposed (some fully, some partially, but always exposed).
IMO exposure of ass works two ways. The first way being obvious that women’s bodies are fetishized and sexualized. The second way being that it is symbolic of men’s sexual anxiety dealing with other men’s sexual aggression. Forward facing=aggressive, the one in power, the one who is doing the fucking. Rear facing=passive, less power, the one who is being fucked (and therefore, is the one who is defeated and humiliated).
I suspect the t&a pose is largely successful because it assigns women as the default rape object. This subliminally assures men that their “position” in society is that of the penetrator rather than the penetrated. This position is as literal as you can imagine since Patriarchy would not exist without rape.
