Well, golly gee whiz, I wonder where I’ve heard that warning before? But people do love their ideological bubble no matter how much harm to real people in real life has to be paid for them to feel morally righteous in rejecting reality in its name.

The party really needs to hear this, but almost no one in the establishment is listening.

The fact that most of the left is so entrenched in supporting what is clearly a fundamentally reactionary ideology and agenda is almost the most bizarre part of this. I suspect a lot of key people became committed to trans ideology early on, before its reactionary implications for women’s rights became obvious, and became so dug in that they couldn’t change course once the reality of it became apparent. But for whatever reason, they’re now as locked in to self-delusion about this as the wingnuts are about global warming or evolution.

You mention evolutionary biologists in your comment. I would like to suggest that the people we really need to consult about this issue are experts in linguistics. This is because the word “gender” is a linguistic term. It properly only refers to words, not people. This is instantly clear to speakers of many languages, because they have a great number of words of specific genders, i.e. “equus,” which is a word of the male gender, but refers to both male and female horses. It is the lack of words of specific gender in English that leads to the easy misuse of the word gender in the US and England. It is, however, a distortion of the meaning of the word to use it to justify a patently lunatic (in my opinion) ideology which has the potential to do a lot of damage.
