Just finished up the classical portion of our choir’s repertoire. We sang a Bach Motet (BWV 227), Durante’s Magnificat, and Mozart’s Laudate Dominum and Ave verum corpus. Keen readers of DWR may have noticed these works featured on the Friday Musical Interludes.
We started working on these pieces in late January. We had exactly twelve rehearsals to get these pieces into performance shape. Given that we are an amateur choir this was more than a tall order to fill. We enlisted professional singers from the Edmonton choral community to sing with us and help us rehearse. Expectations for practice were set very high from the very beginning.
It was all worth it in the end. Our singers and our sound came together when it counted the most.
This is from our Christmas Concert, which was also a wonderful experience. :)
