“I am changed forever more [after watching the Oct 7th video], there is your context madam presidents…this is not about a territorial dispute, it’s not about oppressors and the oppressed, it’s not about religion or ideology. Any agenda that was on the table before October 6 is forever gone, conversation is over. How dare you…what is wrong with you people, you know better…who do you answer to?…If Hamas behavior does not cross the line, then you don’t have one…light always prevails over darkness & good over evil.” powerful words from @DrPhil

Why does anyone care what this one individual’s opinion is? His training and celebrity do not qualify him as an expert, so it is just one opinion amongst many.
Plus, one can understand the nature of the “original” attack (Oct 7), deplore it, and still decry the response, etc. I put original in quotes because Israel and Hamas have been trading attacks of various natures for decades, with Israel landing the heaviest blows.

@ Steve Ruis – I care about what his opinion is. I think it is a neccessary counter balance to the steady stream of terrorist apologia we are hearing from most media outlets.
The palaestinians elected Hamas to represent them, most polls I’ve seen say they still do.
Cross a border, murder innocents, start a war. Actions have consequences.
I hope they learn that pleading oppression doesn’t exempt them from the ‘finding out phase of ‘fucking around’.

Please do not use the @ symbol when addressing me; my name is sufficient. My question was not regarding the content of his opinions, but why anyone would value them, say in opposition to the New York Times or the AP.

Cherry picking figures of Hamas popularity adds little to your argument

As for Dr Phil; his actions speak loader than words.

They should vote them out then, and choose leadership that doesn’t prioritize terrorizing neighboring states.

Opinions have little weight these days especially from the MSM.
If there is a issue with his character or personality it doesn’t change what he stated in the clip.
So, it is still a markedly free country, so we can choose what we think is relevant to the Hamas/Israeli war.

Correct, so why would this person’s opinion be of any value? Does he mention points no one else has made. Does he have a unique perspective that is enlightening? What?

Why should anyone’s opinion be of any value?
Does an opinion need to be whole original to be of value to you – which is nearly impossible in our culturally generative society?
I would say that he has a unique perspective that does not get much attention in the mainstream media.
Did you want to elaborate your point or continue to dance around the mulberry bush on this issue?
I’ve changed my views quite significantly on the Israel/Gaza situation. I keep sensing you want to mention 75 years of occupation to somehow justify the rape and murder of innocent civilians.
It does not.
The duly elected government of Gaza has demonstrated a commitment not to making their country better, but rather spending its resources to pursue an agenda of terror and guerilla war against a neighboring state. On 10/07 Hamas celebrated their massacre of innocents and through their actions brought war and misery to the people they represent.
The war should stop when Hamas unconditionally surrenders and the hostages are safely returned.

It was the Netanyahu government that promoted Hamas as a way to topple the PLO.

Re “I keep sensing you want to mention 75 years of occupation to somehow justify the rape and murder of innocent civilians. It does not.”
I am condemning both sides. As the the Oct 7 “rapes” being mass rapes ordered by Hamas, Israeli newspapers are just now pointing out that those things cannot be confirmed. Not that there were rapes (or not) but that there was mass rapes and that this was ordered by Hamas. (I am always suspicious of conclusions arrived at within hours of any event because insufficient time has elapsed to allow for any serious investigation.
Both sides are lying from both sides of their mouths. But claiming that “they brought it upon themselves” is a particularly egregious response to all of the children being slaughtered. Talk about blaming the victims.
