I lost all trust in ESG when Exxon ranked much higher in this ‘social conscience’ ranking than Tesla. The stark real world absurdity of this claim reeked of reality-denying ideology. We were being told to not believe our eyes and put aside reasoning based on evidence, to just believe, to just trust the metric. And its perniciousness becomes apparent wherever this ideology has spread and gained a foothold on decision makers. Bad results follow (in business, the mantra today is, ‘Go woke, go broke). And we can recognize this ideology in action by the linguistic imports justifying some reality-denying up-is-really-down reasoning. That’s the giveaway. That’s what to look for.
