I’ve been good, oh so very good. The lures of WoW and Warhammer have found no purchase in my psyche. With a casual flip of the hand I can justify not spending time in their digital worlds as there are a myriad of more productive and rewarding things to do.
However, BioWare goes and does something like this.
What am I supposed to do against such terrible awesomeness?
Where is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? They have passed like rain on the mountain… Like wind in the meadow. The days have come down in the west, behind the hills… Into shadow….into the lure of the new SWMMORPG.
How did it come to this?
The more I blog, the more I reveal about my dark seedy underside and nerdulous past. I cannot help it, I am greatly amused by this.

Apparently, shelling out for a new game is not enough these days. Gearbox has just announced the second expansion pack for the PC. It adds useful features to the GUI of the game including a place to keep your accumulated loot.
My question is why did I pay for a game that has functionality purposefully stripped out of it? It is only 10 dollars per expansion pack, but coupled with draconian DRM, it is not worth one’s time or money.
So, I will consider the downloadable content when it is available in non buggered DRM free format.
Intend to get an Xbox off of eBay? Watch out, you might be getting one that Microsoft has banned from Xbox live for having illegal modifications – that is to say, you can play copied game disks on them.
I do not own an Xbox 360, nor will I. I am always a touch paranoid about buying into proprietary networks and systems just to be able to use a specific product.
I’m not particularly sorry for those who were banned, but neither am I feeling pain for MS either. It really just boils down to the move/counter-move dance of the corporations and pirates. I am sure the banned consoles will be back online soon enough.
It may be because I am cheap or perhaps I have been burnt one too many times by the latest and greatest piece of gaming software (I’m looking at you MOO3) that turns out to be a complete dud. I’ve always been a fan of Dragons and when I heard rumors back in 2002 that a first person dragon game was coming out I was quite enthused about the entire project. The I of the Dragon came out sparkling new in 2004, for a whopping 59.00 retail. I was shell shocked after the MOO3 debacle and decided to wait for the price to drop before purchasing the game.
It is a fine line to walk as most experienced software consumers know, because if you wait too long, you miss the first run of the game and often there is not another. Plus, if you are not lucky and miss the title in the bargain bin you are often out of luck until the company decided to release a “gold edition” or “platinum pack” at full price again.
I missed I of the Dragon and could not get my hands on a copy until now. Let me tell you, the RPG Dragon-luv is good, spell-casting, monster munching, baddie-immolating has dominated my spare time as of late.
I am so very excited!
We are starting up a new campaign in the Star Wars universe and what it amazing is that *I* am not running it. I’ve been salvating for years to participate as a player in a adventure. I have a couple of great ideas for my character. She’s gonna be really interesting to play. I’ll update here with highlights as things start to get rolling.
