My wife loves that game. I actually don’t mind it either, though I’m more of a rpg/rts type of guy. Though I do like the team play aspect of the L4D series.

RTS? Really? I think starcraft broke me of that particular genre. To much micro and fussing with build orders and what not.
DAOC and WOW pretty much burnt me out of RPG’s although I am picking my way through Dragon Age at the moment.
The Co-op aspect of L4D is really what drew me in, I am big on cooperative anything, evidence by all the quarters I spent on Gauntlet in the arcade.. :)

Bioware RPGs have always been amazing and I’m just plaything through Dragon Age on my brand new computer before I buy the expansion Awakenings. I never got into WOW though. Too much time for far too little reward. Never did play DAOC
Lol at the starcraft. I used to play Brood War tons and actually purchased this new computer for Starcraft 2. If you ever get in the mood for a RTS without the build orders problem, perhaps try Dawn of War 2. There are no buildings, you get resources by capturing map segments. No worker class of units. It’s all about the combat. Excellent ability to use terrain as cover and a good mix of units that are used as counters to other units. There is also a co-op campaign mode which I have yet to try but I hear is fun.
The one MMO that just might draw me in is Star Wars The Old Republic. Bioware of course. It looks amazing and is going to have the most ambitious voice casting of any game ever they promise. Also, did you play Mass Effect 1 + 2? I personally like the first one better, though the second one has a much better FPS element to it and is more challenging. Good mixture of RPG and FPS with a much better story element than Boarderlands.

I made a Tank as my main character and now am sorta regretting it as most of the enemies seem to be all about the magic fury as I progress toward the endgame. Have you tired making a magic user main? I’m curious to see how that would go.

If you ever get in the mood for a RTS without the build orders problem, perhaps try Dawn of War 2.
I own the original DOW and I really enjoyed going through the campaigns and what not. I have not tried DOW2 yet, but it sounds like it might appeal.

It really is a siren call. With the ability to start out as Jedi and Sith… each with a story arc of its own is well, gosh darn impressive. It may push me over the edge to get started on MMO crack again. What is worse, writing this comment gives insight into how deeply the computer gaming geek I actually am. :)
Also, did you play Mass Effect 1 + 2?
I have heard good things about ME1+2, I may have to get myself a copy. Maybe between my summer course and the beginning of the new school year I could check it out.
Good mixture of RPG and FPS with a much better story element than Boarderlands.
Borderlands was a hoot, but a real let down for the ending. I felt that Borderlands just needed more meat and potatoes plot stuff to push it into the realm of pure awesome.

About Dragon Age:
I did start as a mage but then got a bit bored with the character. Magic is definitely powerful in the game, but it just isn’t as flashy as cutting a guys head off with a two handed axe. I’m way into the eye candy right now with my new compy.
About KOTOR:
Ha! Siren call is probably the best description I’ve heard of that game yet. I think with the sheer volume of star wars geeks that it will lure that it may be the first game to take a significant chunk of WOW’s audience. Blizzard won’t be able to simply copy whatever works over at KOTOR (like they did with warhammer) because what is going to work is the Star Wars universe coolness. Sith v Jedi is infinitely more geek cool than orc v human.
About ME:
Mass Effect 1 is probably the best story telling that Bioware has ever done while ME 2 is probably the best mass appeal game they have ever done. Two classics IMO.
