More people need to listen and act on the ideas of our so called comedians of the day.
The binary view of gender is a regressive patriarchal notion that needs to be abolished and the sooner the better. The gender binary hurts women and men as people are shoehorned into roles that they are not suited for and then judged as being deficient by society according to these normative values. Gender, in fact, lies along a continuum rather than any artificial divide.
So, what explains actions like this?
“Today’s award for bigotry and intolerance goes to one Richard Floyd, a GOP State Rep. from Tennessee who has introduced legislation that would ban transgender individuals from using public restrooms and dressing rooms that are not designated for the gender listed on their birth certificates. What’s more, Rep. Floyd said in a recent interview that if he “was standing at a dressing room and my wife or one of my daughters was in the dressing room and a man tried to go in there” (by which he means a transgender person), he would “stomp a mudhole” in that person.”
Ah, here is where what sociologists and psychologists talk about when they say that gender roles are enforced by society. Here we have a supposedly sane elected individual saying on public record that he would beat someone up if they dared use the bathroom that did not match the meat-parts they were born with.
It gets worse… Richard Floyd the lawmaker in question continues with this (emphasis mine):
“Don’t ask me to adjust to their perverted way of thinking and put my family at risk. We cannot continue to let these people dominate how society acts and reacts.”
Respecting the gender your brain is programmed with is a perversion? Really? Dick, what makes you think that your conception of gender is the correct one? I mean, did someone make you president/godhead of the gender division institute and that your word IS the law? Oh wait, he is a white male and thus what he spake can only be considered “truth“.
Traditional conceptions of gender have a corrosive effect in our society with regards to tolerance and understanding people who are different than ourselves. Gender norms are in desperate need of a overhaul.

Once again an idiotic college student has brought shame on his fraternity, his school, and possibly the entire Greek system by doing something that confirms every misogynistic frat guy stereotype. Today we received a copy of a an email purportedly written by a member of USC’s Kappa Sigma chapter, in which he offers a treatise on how to be an effective “cocksman” (how creative). Disgust ensues.
Here’s the email that went out to his fraternity brothers:
To the Distinguished Gentlemen of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity:
As I have mentioned I will be starting a weekly Gullet Report. In response to the Soft Report, I felt it necessary to offer a contrasting and more uplifting telegram. My theories and practices are elaborated in more detail in the body of this email.
Please send me all of your hook-ups in Tucker Max format (for those unfamiliar with this legend, google will suffice). These renditions should be elaborate and interesting. I want raw data on who fucks and who doesn’t. In conclusion the gullet report will strengthen brotherhood and help pin-point sorostitiutes more inclined to put-out. From my experience when a female goes Ksig shes typically repeats.
For your entertainment read on and pause for note taking. My hope is that ALL of our brothers will follow this creed with pride and distinction.
I have come to write this memo to you today to educate on the only life worth living, that of a Cocksman. A Cocksman is taught to live by the two most applicable principles I know: The Pie and the Gullet. You may already be lost in trying to comprehend this logic. Do not worry this is completely understandable. By the end of this memo, you will not only gain a greater understanding of what it means to live, but you will have embraced a lifestyle. Some people who express racist sentiments just don’t know any better, their peer groups are racist and the sentiments are a shared group meme that is still wrong but at least understandable. The educated though, should just fucking know better. This half-wit brings the supernovae like stupidity with her critique of Handel’s Messiah. As this article was posted on Pharyngula, I’m going to screen shot her lovely quotes; I have a feeling this post may be disappearing fairly soon.

“Why can’t we just get along?” A chilling refrain heard from mild mannered christians when they speak to atheists. I mean really if we just leave each other alone everything will be great right?
Perhaps we should ask Jessica Ahlquist about just getting along and coexisting peacefully. Ms.Ahlquist has had her docs dropped, threatened with injury and murder for her ‘crimes’ against the sanctimonious.
What did Ms.Alquist do to earn such opprobrium? She went to court to have a banner with a prayer removed from a public school. The separation of church and state in the US is constitutionally mandated. Ms.Ahlquist’s simply wanted her school to follow the law.
It is situations like this that make it hard to believe that the religious simply want to live peaceably with others that do not share their beliefs.
The children learn the hate and bigotry from their religiously besotted parents. Perhaps the above parent would react differently if it was their child being bullied and persecuted by an angry mob. But of course, empathy, compassion and tolerance are off the table when your delusional sky daddy mythology is challenged so it isn’t even a question….
Secular society is under threat from this avalanche of nuclear grade religious stupidity. I encourage my readership to distribute my post, or Practical Doubt’s and get as many eyeballs reading and minds thinking about the damage unchecked religiosity can do to a society.
