Wow. What’s next, saying that a piano is a symbol of oppression or racism because the black keys are small and labeled “flat” and “minor” whereas the white keys are bigger and more part of the major scales? Or what, that the issue of female on male violence isn’t proportionally represented in film? This is ridiculous, and here once again we have what starts as a good cause on the left getting ruined and eventually becoming a joke – all by their own making.
Again, I’ll point out the obvious fact that in a market where women are free to purchase a ticket to watch any movie they want to, it would appear judging by the numbers these movies and tv shows haul in that the majority of women are pretty much OK with things and that it’s only the loser section of society that isn’t.
In this case, the “loser section of society” would be those loser men who will wine that most murderers and psychos portrayed in film are men (or as I said before that the retards portrayed in film are men), and the loser women who will whine that one woman portrayed as a psycho in film is too many.
There have been a healthy number of guys stuffed into refrigerators, trunks, suitcases, or whatever in order to even out the universe, so I’d say to both groups, “get over it”.
Lefties are always looking for every new way to play the victim as though it’s the only way they can have any sort of power, or take any sort of leadership or ownership of their lives.
Want to change this, people? Write your own script and try to sell it, or get some investors together and start a production company. and see how many “real” women pay to see your films (what is a “fake” woman, btw?)
Or, keep doing as you often do (lefties!) and just pick apart everything and keep whining and whining until somebody else does something to make you happy. :)

Your opinion is noted.

Damn women seeing patterns and ideas that are harmful to them and having the nerve to make an issue of it. What next, letting them vote!?!?!?!?

Save some of this, we have 4 more episodes to go, I’d hate for you to run out of progressive caricatures to bash before we finish. :)

Nice try. Voting has to do to with personal power and leadership, not continuously carving slices of victimhood to try and find connection through commiseration. Surely you have to admit there’s a point anywhere where victimhood goes too far and hurts the original cause.
I guess any woman making love in a movie we can simply dismiss 100% as her being exploited for sex, or any man pursuing a woman is simply sexism in action and simply males forcing females to buy tickets to these movies as well as enjoy them. In the Femimiserati world, there is no in-between and no way women can actually enjoy or appreciate something on face value, and like I say along those lines we might as well hate all Steinways and all piano music as being horrific symbols of black oppression what with those little black keys and all.
Don’t worry about me running out of “progressive characters to bash” – most of them make a joke of themselves on their own without needing any help from me. ;). Never thought I’d miss your Chomsky soapboxing in the meantime, though!! :).
Either way, although I disagree with the desire and what I believe is the intent of the clips, I appreciate the posts nonetheless.

The issue is related. Women did not gain the right to vote in Canada and the US till the 1920’s. Women being thought of as fully autonomous people with full human status started a mere 100 years ago. Our societies do not magically change in such a short time, misogynistic patriarchal attitudes still permeate our culture. Tropes that women and portray them negatively exist and continue to cause harm as they reinforce attitudes and ideals that are harmful to women.
The status quo is far from okay and is in need of significant improvement.
I guess any woman making love…[..]
Yes, absolutely. The video was totally pointing out every movie ever made was exactly this. Really?
In the Femimiserati world, there is no in-between and no way women can actually enjoy or appreciate something on face value,
Just hang on…let me quote something you said about me. Looking..looking… okay, it was fairly recently, even on the same page of comments! Here is what you said regarding how much I know about political and economic reality:
VR Kaine:These are who you lump in as your poor just as you lump in every self-starter and business person as an “elite”, showing me that you’ve never truly been one of either and know little of what you pass on from thought leaders here. Live with some of these people.
Jesus on a pogo-stick!
So by that measure, how do you know about issues facing women and the problems they experience? I’m curious because applying the “test” you often argue at me with,it would look like according to your standards (see quoted material above), you should be full of shit (when talking about issues affecting women). Or do those standards apply only when talking to us Pie in the Sky Progressive liberal types? Or perhaps you are an ardent feminist supporter as it seems that you have intimate knowledge of the workings of the ‘Femimiserati’ world and thus also should be taken seriously.
Or how about this? – You are using your privilege to talk about things that you know little about, but still expect to be taken seriously because by the current societal standards are explicit – what white males say must be “important”.
When uppity females challenge this aspect of the status quo dude nation gets mad or as it would seem in your case dismissive and prone to mischaracterizations.
Either way, although I disagree with the desire and what I believe is the intent of the clips, I appreciate the posts nonetheless.
You are welcome. :) I am glad for the opportunity to discuss and share knowledge with others. :)

“Tropes that women and portray them negatively exist and continue to cause harm as they reinforce attitudes and ideals that are harmful to women.”
That reinforcement is hardly as absolute as you make it out to be. People can easily determine how closely art imitates life, as well as what meaning something has that they can either choose or not choose to internalize.
A character in a movie is just that – a character, and a movie is just a story. Therefore, I no more think some bubbly “bimbo” in a movie is a real portrayal of women than I do some arrogant a-hole character like Paris Trout is a real portrayal of men. Even movies based upon real-life stories are often fictionalized, and characters amalgamated for artistic effect.
“So by that measure, how do you know about issues facing women and the problems they experience? It’s a very fair question. To my points to you on capitalism you seem to pretend you know what companies (boardrooms), or “the rich” think. Since you’re not one yourself, there’s a lack of first-hand knowledge, and since you don’t seem to hang around with any, that would indicate a lack of any second-hand knowledge as well. It’s an indication of your filters.
To these videos, do I know what a woman thinks or experiences first-hand? Of course not, however I can first safely assume that since women enjoy these kinds of movies far more than men do, your view on these characters is likely in the minority. That’s not sexism, that’s just math, and the kind “Pie in the Sky” Liberals hate to acknowledge. ;) (haha!)
Second, I believe I have a valid second-hand perspective on the issue since in the course of my work I deal with women and various aspects of racism, sexism, and other forms of discrimination in the workplace (and to a lesser extent, in the home) on a daily basis as part of my profession, and we’ve used clips like these as part of the discussions. Therefore, any opinion I have on this subject as a man is drawn in part from the feedback and discussions that I have with women on these subjects which come up often as they experience both advantages and disadvantages in the workplace – “trope-like” as you may find these corporate women to be.
Regardless, human nature is such that anyone can sit around, look at virtually anything, and decide that every tiny part of it has some reference and meaning to some deep emotional wound. The fact is where you seem to see such a horrible, disgraceful display of misogynistic hell, most of the woman I see and work with on a daily basis see a character that they find amusing and admirable in a lot of ways, that they can relate to in some ways, and yes, even find disrespectful in others, but at the end of the day what they choose to get from the movies these clips mention above are simple, enjoyable escapes. They don’t see the need to dive in on every bit of minutia to either glean or manufacture some deeper, more depressed and sinister meaning behind something anyone else says or does just to continue their ongoing quest for perpetual misery and victimhood.
You believe these kinds of movies do harm to women. I don’t disagree, but I disagree as to the extent that you do in that I don’t think you’d see the support for these movies, their characters, and their storylines in the numbers of women that you do indulging in them if they were such a factor in the cause. Personally, I don’t think the women who like these characters or movies are that ignorant, naive, or stupid as to not give this topic the level of upsettedness it would deserve. However, since women who like these movies so far aren’t chiming in here, I figured I’d at least try and stick up for them in their absence and the guys who enjoy being in relationships with such happy, supportive, upbeat, and independent women.
Either way, surely Femimiseratis can enjoy a piece of chocolate, or a potato chip, or a soda for just a brief moment without heaping some depressing, sour malevolent world cause on top of it, don’t they? Perhaps if they could put down the dissection tools for a second in they could enjoy these kinds of movies and characters in the same way.
