Brrrr…. it’s feeling cold in here. It must be something in the atmosphere!
It feel like hell is freezing over. It must be because my father always said hell would freeze over before Alberta elected an NDP government.

I’m glad Prentice got spanked. Really glad.
Keep a good balance between fiscal and social, NDP, and you could be keeping yourself elected for a very long time.

One can only hope.
On a side topic, I am rather unimpressed with Jimmy at the moment as it seems like he decided to take all his toys and go home. His actions call into question how much he actually cared for Alberta and its people.

Let him. I don’t think he’s entirely wrong with his concerns about the reality of trying to implement some of Notley’s platform, but she nailed it in the debates when she said he and his type have been too much about not questioning daddy, and not worrying our “pretty little heads.” He totally underestimated and misplayed the Alberta public and he pissed a lot of people off.
I can’t remember a political upset this big anywhere, and as I mentioned in prior comments, the fact that a number of longtime PC supporters in my crowds were almost all pulling for the NDP this time around – even with our fiscal policy concerns/disagreements – shows just how arrogant the PC had become, how poor (and arrogant) Prentice was as a “leader” of the party, and like you say – how little he (they) seemed to care about everyday Albertans.
If I can add one other thing – the points that Jean brought up in the debate about government waste: free cell phones, gas, oil changes, expensive moves, etc. – I REALLY hope Notley is paying attention to cutting waste as much as she is about increasing spending in government. I have doubts she’ll pull off raising corporate taxes with all the usual “pay your fair share” crap, but if she is successful at cutting waste she could very well keep much of the support of a lot of the conservatives won, and it would be a great reframe of the NDP that could make it far more politically effective at the federal level.
I think it’s also great to show how Alberta wants effective and accountable leadership – no matter what the gender. That’s what I took from this election as well.
