This is ever entwined in my life story and the life story of countless other women. The idea was that somehow because the women depicted in pornography enjoy being abused, forced, raped, that I should enjoy that, too; that there was something wrong with me because I did not; that sex with me was not hot enough unless I pretended to enjoy it. This is why I hate pornography; because at least some men who engage in it want the fantasy in real life and they objectify the women they have sex with instead of valuing them as human beings who know what they want and like. And the objectification and devaluing doesn’t stop in the bedroom.

Porn is so damn toxic. I’m sorry you had to deal with someone who was porn-sick :(

Ah, it’s done now. I just didn’t realize until near the end how significant a role porn was playing, nor how prevalent it was even in religious circles. Needless to say, I do now.

Porn-sick and religious? Wow, that is doubling down on corrosive patriarchal influences. :/

This. Right here. Being against porn doesn’t make me a prude…it means that I’m against the violence and dehumanization of women and girls.
