Hey, just trying to be world inclusive here. In Canada when we say just ‘skating’, we know what it means.
Other, non-icebound places have roller skating, inline skating and other blasphemous activities that I shall not mention.

Cool. As a fairly serious recreational figure skater myself, and former competitive skater, it’s weird that some people don’t understand that blades have edges, where to spin, how to take off on edge and toe jumps, etc. Never tried hockey, speed skating or that ridiculous sport, curling. Video didn’t mention the subtle differences between ice dancing skates and regular figure skates, nor get into “patch” skates for figures. Wanted to try hockey as a kid, but that was before my area had girl’s hockey and girls couldn’t join the teams for boys. My dad didn’t think it was a good idea either (1. girls are too violent and 2. don’t look good with missing either), so there was that…
