Yeah, but if He had banned slavery, Christianity would have ended up a small, inconsequential cult. It got a huge boost by becoming associated with the Roman Empire, a mammoth slave state. So, shellfish it is … theists have always chosen power over ideology. Look at how many ideology changes the Catholic Church has gone through.
