The amount of profound stupidity in Canada’s HoC some days. The government needs to ensure that individual rights and safety are protected in society.
You know how you solve climates of ‘hate and fear’ – with speech and cogent arguments. Not hand-waving at the pathetic progressive boogymen of “islamaphobia” and “systemic racism”.

Meanwhile, back in reality, 1% of the population is subjected to 70% of all such hate crime and that rate has increased 640% year over year. But let’s focus on better protecting the group that holds beliefs causing most of this and pretend it is the victim most at risk. There is no such thing as Islamophobia: there is only legitimate criticism of Islam as a belief system importing values and acting on them by it adherents that conflict with western values, human rights, and at the very least disturbs peace, order, and good government. Tolerating and protecting Islamicists from legitimate criticism and uncivil actions results in growing social dysfunction, harm, and hate. That’s what we have. Such coddling would be better called Islamophilia. That’s what these mewling morons in the HoC are promoting. And it has helped to break the country.

2017. Heavens to Murgatroid! That’s an eternity ago in politics. Well, now that Justin has finally come out of hiding and prorogued Parliment we can rest easy knowing that Bills C63 and C65 are dead in the water. It’s going to be an interesting year.

It is such a weird inversion of values. Critical theory seems to exist to pervert what should be fairly easy moral judgements by bringing in other ‘scales of morality’ to consider like the oppressor/oppressed dynamic. Of course, only the adherents to critical theory get to decide which roles various groups are in.
It is such unadulterated bullshit.

Agreed, but the malarkey still rankles and doesn’t improve with age. :)

Eva Kurilova echoes my long-held principled stand, that any group-based belief as an identity must always be secondary to the enlightenment value of the rights, responsibilities, and constrained freedoms of the individual or civilization in the west will crumble into either authoritarianism or totalitarianism:
“The real fight is and always will be against the collectivism that stamps out the individual and their moral agency.”
