The literal translation for Confutatis from its original Latin to English is as follows:
When the accursed have been confounded
And given over to the bitter flames,
Call me with the blessed.I pray in supplication on my knees.
My heart contrite as the dust,
Safeguard my fate.
Mozart wrote this movement in the key of A minor, which contrasts the general, more often used key of D minor of the whole Requiem.
Mozart utilizes a multitude of 16th to 32nd notes, power of bass and strings in unison at the beginning to reflect the message of the song, in regard to Hell, and its everlasting flames.
