Misogyny, Bigotry and Priest Child-Rape Apologia – all in together in one package of Pope Awesome!
It would be a disservice to the Disservice if we did not comment on the high octane jack-assery that is going on in Catholic-land at the moment as they feverishly scrabble about looking for the best candidate to be their earthly link to the Almighty-Holy-Gibberish in the sky. I’m thinking they would have better luck with Alectryomancy.
Sadly, Canada has a candidate in the running for the title of His Pope-ness, by the name of Marc Ouellet. His grip on reality, like that of many of the religious, is tenuous at best (wanting to be the chosen emissary of the Sky-Daddy here on earth an all that. I secretly think that there is a holy (holey?) sock-puppet that has “god” embroidered on it that only the pope gets to wear and converse with.) Parenthetical ruminations aside, Mr.Ouellet when not fapping for jebus, has some quaintly retrograde points of view when it comes to social issues.
Shocking.
“Once touted as a possible candidate to become pope, Ouellet apparently had no intention of wading into a public policy debate when [he] called abortion a “moral crime” as serious as murder and said it is never justified — even in cases of rape.”
Ah, rapetastic pope gives those bitches what they deserve! No rights, no autonomy and incubator status straight-fucking-up. I am curious as to the calibre of mental gymnastics it takes to be female and to identify as Catholic when the head of your church makes raging misogyny plank #1 on his papal platform. It gets better, Ouellet digs deeper:
“Ouellet said he understands that a sexually assaulted woman has been traumatized and must be helped and that her attacker must be held accountable.
“But there is already a victim,” he said. “Must there be another one?”
Will someone PLEASE think of the children!!!! (While we insidiously erase women’s autonomy, tough darts for you bitchez!!)
Ouellet is also on the progressive cutting edge of other societal issues; same sex marriage and homosexuality come to mind:
“His Eminence raised concern over the positive presentation of homosexuality and same-sex “marriage” in schools. With such questionable education, the Cardinal said, “You are deforming conscience. You are warping the processes of psycho-sexual and psycho-social identification processes of youth.”
Fags and dykes! Back into the closet for you! We’ll see you burning in the lake of fire soon enough, but for now, be away with your sinful practices your presence cannot be tolerated within a properly religious society (and by “properly religious society” I actually mean, fucked-up dystopian hell.)! It is sad to see this sort of bigotry paraded out in the open. The following quote is not what Ouellet has said, but I’m pretty sure he supports it:
“Considerations Regarding Proposals To Give Legal Recognition To Unions Between Homosexual Persons, said that, “Allowing children to be adopted by persons living in such unions would actually mean doing violence to these children, in the sense that their condition of dependency would be used to place them in an environment that is not conducive to their full development.” (No. 7).Homosexual indoctrination is just another form of child abuse.”
To see a nasty slice of the Dark Ages apparently one just needs to dial Ouellet’s Papal Way-Back-Machine, for a heady whiff of the good ‘ole days when the church was leading society straight into the muck. With such progressive views, how can this dude NOT be pope?
Oh and of course, no Catholic article would be complete without commentary on the officially denied by tacitly condoned child-rape-cabal a.k.a the catholic priesthood. Severely enlightened Ouellet in dulcet tones denotes:
“He also said child abuse is not specifically a Roman Catholic issue but that the church has garnered more attention.
“It is not a Catholic problem; it is a human problem. Most of the abuse occurred in families in very general in society, and my hope is what was done by the Catholic Church, which is not yet perfect, but could be also of example for others in society,” he said.
Last month, SNAP, (Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests) singled out three papal candidates who, either by their comments or their deeds, had tried to brush off allegations of abuse by members of the clergy.”
Oh, it is just a human problem! Okay then. Carry on! (*headesk forever*)
Canada still has a freely flowing super-abundance of toxic religious stupidity; enough (shamefully) that we can *share* with rest of the world. And thus to the world, my heartfelt apologies.
Still the case for those who are not Male Prostitutes
It looks like 21 century ideas might begin to have the slightest bit of intellectual purchase with god’s go to guy here on earth. The pope, in his new book, has a section on condoms and reproductive health that suggests that condom use in certain situations could be considered acceptable. His popitude says:
“In a book to be released on Tuesday, the pope said that it was acceptable for male prostitutes seeking to prevent the spread of HIV to use condoms.”
Male prostitutes? That is it? No other case comes close enough to Papal reality to justify the use of condoms? Amazing progress consider this is the same individual as of 2009 that said this:
“The pope drew unprecedented criticism from European governments, international organisations and scientists in March 2009 when he told reporters while flying to Africa that condoms would not resolve the Aids problem there but, on the contrary, increase it.”
So, this is progress(?). During the inquisition it would be akin to a holy edict stating that the maximum weight used during strappado torture has just been lowered down to 5o pounds from 55 pounds. Woo ya!
Woo! Thankgoodness for papal mercy!
Richard Dawkins has been someone I’ve respected and looked up to for a long time. He is a champion of truth, science, and education. This, of course, has made him an enemy of religion. The small jump from role-model of the highest order to hero took the rallying up of people in an effort to bring down the king-pin of the religious world: the pope.
There are many who are involved in the ‘arrest the pope’ campaign and they all deserve our respect and support. Dawkins, with his succinct and eloquent charisma, is a perfect addition to this cause. Hope springs anew!

The insipid organization known as the Catholic Church continues to fumble along now begging forgiveness for violating children and destroying their lives.
“Pope Benedict XVI has begged forgiveness from clerical abuse victims and promised to “do everything possible” to ensure priests don’t rape and molest children ever again.”
Well that is nice, but as the CBC reports it is too little, a lot too late.
“Benedict made the pledge during a Mass Friday in St. Peter’s Square, marking the end of the Vatican’s Year of the Priest, a celebration of the priesthood that has been marred by revelations of hundreds of new cases of clerical abuse, coverup and Vatican inaction to root out pedophiles.”
I’m sure that now, he means business.
“On Thursday, Benedict strongly defended celibacy for priests as a sign of faith in an increasingly secular world, insisting on a church tradition that has come under scrutiny amid the clerical sex abuse scandal.”
Well, it would seem there is a correlation of sorts between sex starved priests and the innocent children they systematically and repeatedly target. One might, if possessing even a moderate grasp of reality, ascertain that the policy of Celibacy for priests is not working very well. Will the pious make a decision based in the real world? Wait for it.
“The pope called it “a great sign of faith, of the presence of God in the world.”
The Vatican has long denied that its celibacy requirement was the root cause of priests who rape and sodomize children.”
OH SNAP! Celibacy is the presence of GOD in the world let the rape-train continue full steam ahead!

Another day, another religious scandal. The unctuous Catholic Church continues to devolve and show it true colours as the amoral cesspool they call a clergy is now very sorry for raping and abusing thousands of children in Ireland since 2005.
Did someone just say 'alter boy'?
“Pope Benedict XVI has released a letter apologizing for years of physical and sexual abuse suffered by Irish children at the hands of priests.
“Your trust has been betrayed and your dignity has been violated,” the Pope told victims. “I am truly sorry. I know that nothing can undo the wrong you have endured.”
The Pope said he felt “shame and remorse” over what the victims have endured and praised their courage in speaking out about their abuse. He also acknowledged that in many cases, no one listened to their complaints.
“You have suffered grievously and I am truly sorry,” he said.
It seems like institutionalized rape and abuse is a-okay -of course until the shamed victims shed their fear and call you on your atrocious record.
Religion needs to go away. Christopher Hitchens, writing at Slate, does his usual excellent job at dismantling particular story, more so than I could at the moment, so enjoy his smack down of the this particularly evil religious moment.

The amazingly cogent world of religion strikes once again with timeless wisdom, His Popiness said: 
“You can’t resolve it [the problem of AIDS] with the distribution of condoms.”
The Unctuous High Holy Pope of Vapidity then added:
“On the contrary, it increases the problem.”
It would seem to me, the lowly heathen that I am, that condom use is a good thing. It is a inexpensive way to curtail the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. The UNAIDS and the World Health Organization (obvious bastions of Satan) that said, “The male latex condom is the single, most efficient, available technology to reduce the sexual transmission of HIV [the virus that causes AIDS].”
Hmmm…. a religious edict, basking in the filthy crud of relgious dogmatism, is causing grevious harm to millions of people. Not particularly surprising, (given the religious track record) but disheartening all the same. The “god is love” bunch really have their work cut out for them in this instance.
Religion is a dangerous delusional pursuit; why people continue to propigate such an abberation, given all the evidence, boggles the mind.
