Ummm… perhaps you saw something that I didn’t in those two clips? The hosts had different styles but both were civil.

Oh indeed, both hosts were indeed civil. What I found interesting is that many of the Europeans began their statements with “I’ve read your book and…” while in America it was more about defining concepts and how the arguments work together. The level of discourse seemed a little more advanced in the first clip as a opposed to a more basic discussion in the second.
Of course, the deluded were out in full force during the first show and the audience participation in the second was much less direct.
My preference lies with the first show as it seemed there was some room for reasoned debate as opposed to just getting the required sound bytes in during the second.

I wonder if the Brits considered that to be “heated”?!

Ah, makes more sense now. I guess I was thrown off by the title of the second one and was expecting some rudeness or at least screaming. I would have to agree that more information was exchanged in the first one. I would attribute that to that they might actually want to exchange information in Europe whereas here in North America we seem to simply want to talk over one another. Or at least that’s how I see things.

Good question. We speak the same language (roughly) but the cultures are so different. Looking at the videos you can almost discern different cultural values at work. Make no mistake the religious nutters are the same, as they share the same delusional impairment, but it just seems like to me that a reasonable debate is more likely to happen over there as opposed to here.
