Damn women getting all uppity and full of agency, the nerve…
“Men celebrated our sexual liberation — our willingness to freely give and enjoy blow jobs and group sex, our willingness to experiment with anal penetration — but ultimately many males revolted when we stated that our bodies were territories that they could not occupy at will. Men who were ready for female sexual liberation if it meant free pussy, no strings attached, were rarely ready for feminist female sexual agency. This agency gave us the right to say yes to sex, but it also empowered us to say no.”

Had Jim Jeffries won the fight against Johnson, that would have ‘proved’ the white man was physically superior to the black man. When he didn’t the LA times published this (1910):
A Word to the Black Man:
“Do not point your nose too high
Do not swell your chest too much
Do not boast too loudly
Do not be puffed up
Let not your ambition be inordinate
Or take a wrong direction
Remember you have done nothing at all
You are just the same member of society you were last week
You are on no higher plane
Deserve no new consideration
And will get none
No man will think a bit higher of you
Because your complexion is the same
Of that of the victor at Reno”
It’s the same form of bastardization of logic. “If it suits us, we’re on board, if it doesn’t…”

You can find similar sentiments in commentators from all stratified societies. Walter Lippmann performed a similar function from the 1920’s onward in America, demarcating who should be in power and who needed to be managed.
