One of my favourite youtubers is theramin trees, his videos are always coolly narrated and punctuated with slick visual animations that always manage to highlight how incredibly toxic religion is. He recalls how his questions got him in trouble… and the terror of growing up as curious child. So many alarm bells with this video – the stunting of critical thinking, the mental abuse and the emotional blackmail all in the name of believing in magic.

We know that the only way to avoid error is to detect it, and the only way to detect it is to be free to inquire.
That. Is. An. Awesome. Quote.
And I think this is the best vid you’ve posted, Arb, and you’ve posted some pearlers. Every theist should watch it. He’s compacted decades of study into 29 minutes. 29 minutes that can alter one’s life. Brilliant stuff.

Totally agree with John, this video seems to say it all, and with what seem to be quite strong Biblical examples to boot.

TT is the closest I’ve found to pure gold on youtube. He knocks it out of the park with almost every vid.
Succinct, knockdown arguments with a polished presentation for wins all around.

I lack the experience of living the whole religious thing. It is a blessing, for sure, but there is nothing like being on the inside and living the dream in order to be better able to deconstruct it.

I spent 6 months on the inside and did my best to thoughtfully question and bring different perspectives to the table. A lot of what is mentioned in this video rings fairly true to what I experienced.

Yup. This could be my story. Been there. Done that. Same conclusion: religious belief has a very real cost… and what a waste.

And that opening quote is excellent: atheism happened to me when I wasn’t looking; theism happened to me when I wasn’t thinking. That nails it.
